Last month I began making travel plans to visit one of my brothers who lives in Alaska. The Mister and I will be heading to Anchorage and road tripping it with my brother around a bit, ending in Fairbanks, where he lives.

I can’t wait to explore Alaska, see the wild life, scenery and catch up. It will also be crazy since there will be almost 24 hours of daylight when we go at the end of May.

Now the real task is packing! Since the weather could be in the 70s or 40s, it will be all about layers, comfort and a little bit of cute. Not to mention a sleep mask for those weird, light nights!

So here’s what I’ll be packing (or something similar) for our early Summer trip:

What to pack for a Spring Alaska Trip

> Patagonia Better Sweater since it’s all about layers, $139.

Sunglasses for those, hopefully, sunny days, $14.99.

> Penfield long Rain Jacket, $150.

> Foxy Tee, $42.99.

> Prana Jeans (stretchy, skinny – but not too skinny, and cute). Great for exploring Denali National Park, $79.

> Comfy, Waterproof, Sturdy Shoes, $99.

Sleep Mask for all that daylight, $19.99.

> Cross body Camera Bag & Satchel, $329.

I’ll share the itinerary and all about the trip once we’re back. Can’t wait!

Do you still get dolled up for Easter Sunday? Growing up, I loved going Easter dress shopping because it was one of the few times I didn’t get a hand-me-down from one of my sisters. Something new, just for me!

These days, it seems like holidays aren’t as dressed up which is fine, but to me, it makes them a little less special and important. So with that in mind, here’s a little  fashion inspiration fit for a stroll in the Easter Parade. Bonnet optional.

Easter Fashion Inspiration

{Flora Vignette Dress, $138. Lovely Easter Bonnet, $50. Peep Toe Wedges, $90.}

Easter Parade Fashion Inspiration

{Striped Cardigan, $35. Pink Sandals, $30. Lattice Dress, $158.}

Easter Parade Fashion Inspiration

{Blue Belle Dress, $99. Floral Hair Clips, $24. Wedge Clogs, $265.}

And if you’re bored, here’s some Easter inspiration from previous years:

Our latest mid-winter TV love for Mr. Wiz and me (while we wait for the Walking Dead to come back) is BBC’s Sherlock, on PBS, currently in season 3.

I love the way the cinematography is shot, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, London, etc., but I also love the styling of Sherlock’s flat. While perhaps dark and musty, I’ve pulled together lighter but Sherlock inspired home decor ideas.

Sherlock Inspired Decor

> Faux Moose Bust, $92. Desk Lamp, $79.95.
> Annotated Books, $80.75.
> Black & White Wallpaper, $198.
> Tartan Chair, $1598.
> Pillow Cover, $18.50.
> Vintage Music Stand, $175.
> Magnifying Glass, $14.99.

Perhaps I’m just ready to move and get decorating, or the cabin fever from this deep freeze, either way, I hope you enjoy!
